Let me explain, I have worked as a receptionist in a small but popular clinic in Bangalore for 4 years (This was during my PUC and UG as I was in the evening college had time to work and study).

So ill give you the numbers — I am not giving the exact numbers as it is against the policy I’m just giving you an image.

Most of the doctors’ timings are divided into two shifts, morning and evening. where 25 to 30 patients are treated per session overall 50 to 60 per day.

Two Scenarios:

  1. General Physician
  2. A specialist (ENT, Ortho, Dentist, Dermatologist Etc)

General Physician

The general physicians usually charge Rs. 200/- per patient so,

200*50 patients are Rs. 10,000/- a day, for 25 days it’s Rs.2,50,000/- and per annum revenue is Rs. 30,00,000/- for a general physician who charges 200rs.

The amount increase for the doctors who charge more than 200.

The second category — Specialists

Any specialist or a surgeon in any field

Their consultation fee is a minimum of Rs. 500 so,

500*50 (patients) its Rs. 25,000/- per day, Rs. 6,25,000 for 25 days and Rs. 75,00,00/- per annum.

Apart from this the surgery fee, visiting fee in other hospitals etc. so roughly they make Rs. 1 crore per annum.

Now you get to the conclusion of whether doctors are rich or not.

P.S. — Please don’t bash me it’s just the basic calculation which I observed and the numbers are approx the value. This is not to demean the Doctors and their earnings, just common sense applied.

Thank You!!
Jai Hind!!
